Skill Practice

Since the Class WOD for today is 20 or 30 rope climbs, you're going to get in plenty of training, but that still leaves room for practice.

Spend 10-15 minutes practicing your foot hold on the rope. Seriously.

A good, confident lock with your feet is SO important on rope climbs, especially now that workouts contain multiple climbs back to back. Engaging your lower body will save your grip.

First, make sure you're getting your feet as high and as close to your hands as possible. Rich Froning only leaves a couple of inches of rope between his feet and hands. Then be sure to lock the rope between your feet. There are several different techniques, but the most efficient and most common is the J-hook. Lastly, stand up.

Seriously... practice. Katrin Davidsdottir will do 100 reps of only foot work, without even climbing the rope, to make sure she has it on lock (pun intended).
