Handstand Day!

Skill Training

*This will serve as a GREAT warm-up for the class WOD and prepare you for the HS Walking.

  1. Accumulate 2 min total Nose & Toes Handstand at wall
    • Get as close to the wall as possible, so your Nose & Toes and hips are touching the wall. 
    • Extra credit - pull your belly off the wall, while keeping Nose, Toes, and hips on the wall
  2. Accumulate 100 HS Weight Shifts - belly against the wall
    • Get your hands as close as you're able to. Only your toes should be touching the wall, but knees or hips can touch if you need to scale.
  3. Accumulate 100 HS Weight Shifts - back against the wall
    • Only your heels should be touching the wall, NO BUTTS! This is a great drill to get comfortable leaning forward in a HS, which is required for HS Walking.

Skill Practice

Spend 10 minutes practicing Tuck Jump and Tuck Presses to HS on the Parallettes, and HS holding on the low rings.

IF YOU WANT TO GO ON HIGHER RINGS... PLEASE talk to Coach Matt first!!! It is IMPERATIVE you know how to get into and out of a HS safely on the high rings, ESPECIALLY INCLUDING how to fall out of HS safely, so you can end hanging, and not on the floor.
